The Jack of Spades

The Jack of Spades (JS) is a skillful, clever young man. In some of the older cartomancy meanings he represents an unsettled, erratic, emotionally inconsistent young man; or simply the thoughts of the Queen or King of Spades. Although Jacks can represent young people of either sex, the Jack of Spades is most often read as a young male.

In coloring, the Suit of Spades is considered the darkest of the deck, and represents people with dark brown to black hair, and dark brown eyes.

Traditional meanings associated with the Jack of Spades:

Positive Aspects:

  • A dark-haired, dark-complected youth
  • A youth from a foreign country
  • A youth in uniform; soldier or cadet
  • Skillful, clever youth
  • An intellectual youth; math whiz
  • Young leader; knows how to take charge

  1. Nice to see your posts again. Interestingly, my current boyfriend comes up in my readings as originally JS but more recently changed to JC as we became more involved.

  2. Happy New Year and thanks for the post. Missed reading these!

  3. YAAAAAY THE CARTOMANCY MASTER IS BACK!!! :D. Looking forward to more of your posts. Hope your holidays were nice and Happy New Year! :)

  4. Thank you, annahp. Yes, the JS can be a bit mysterious.

  5. Thanks, Inigo. And Happy New Year to you!

  6. Hi Amanda! Thank you, and Happy New Year! :)

  7. Yay, he's back!! Been sorely missed. :)

  8. Very interesting!!! I'm waiting for a new article!!!

  9. Nice surprise to find another post :) For me the jack of spades typically represents a younger male friend of mine. I think he's most of what has been described on the 'positive end' - dark hair and eyes, from a foreign country, clever and a bit of a leader as well...

  10. Hi!!!

I am so loving your site! It has inspired me to get Regina Russell’s book! I got it on Friday!

I am quite confused at this reading!! I asked if I will get pregnant or if I will have another baby, I forgot to be honest with you. But I got these cards. I’m also an artist....from this reading I got that I will be getting some money for artwork and that a new beginning will begin and also a pregnancy?! And a wish come true? Could you please correct me or give me your interpretation. I’m sure you get this all the time....

Sincerely a freshly immersed reader of yours!

Hello, I only know you recently but so what attachment I have for you! incredible feeling! you defeat an exceptional light! when I read you, I feel good. Blessing on you

  12. Hi Mary,
I am not able to see the cards you got in your readings, so I cannot offer my insights. But I can say that the cards related to art and creativity are nearly identical to the cards related to physical pregnancy and the creation of life. It would not surprise me to know that your reading does address both issues.
